Susan Elliot

Susan Elliott ONZM has worked in the refugee sector for more than 40 years as a teacher, researcher, consultant, facilitator, mentor, volunteer, advocate and ally. She has worked in New Zealand and the UK as a lecturer, and internationally as a consultant for UNHCR, and other multi-lateral agencies as well as NZ MFAT, NGOS and community-based organisations. For ten years she worked part time as a lecturer in Social Practice at Unitec where she taught not for profit management, community development, and human rights, including the rights of the child and refugee issues.

Sue also has wide governance experience in the not-for-profit sector. She was a founder of the Auckland Refugee Council (now trading as ASST), The Human Rights Foundation, RASNZ and the Auckland Refugee Family Trust. Over the past twenty years she has also been a Board member of various refugee background support and human rights NGOS such as the Human Rights Foundation, ECPAT, Devzone and the Aotearoa Community Development Association. 

She is a committed knitter and proud supporter of WARC. 

In 2022 Sue was awarded an ONZM in recognition for her human rights advocacy, particularly refugee issues, diversity and inclusion.

Heather Lyall

Heather Lyall is the Director of The Community Collective and The Creative Kids Collective. The Community Collective is a community development organisation which specialises in empowering community led development and sustainability initiatives with an aim to support thriving, climate ready neighbourhoods. Heather leads a number of projects including Eco Neighbourhoods, The Albert Eden and Puketāpapa Eco Festival, Community Network and Social Cohesion focused mahi and a Climate Action Network.  The Creative Kids Collective emerged in 2017. It is a social enterprise focused on highlighting opportunities for children across the Auckland region to develop their innate child led creativity through sustainable play. The Creative Kids Collective hosted the very first Loose Parts Adventure Playground in Aotearoa and is now focused on supporting creative entrepreneurial circular economy opportunities with young people across the isthmus.

Kelly Pretty

Kelly Pretty. MFA. PgDip SecEd. Kelly is an artist who has been an art and sustainability educator since 2000, working in secondary schools, tertiary, and community settings. She is passionate about advocating for creativity and wellbeing through connecting with te taiao the environment, with a special interest in diverse communities and volunteers her time to various community organisations.

Kylie Goddard

Kylie Goddard – BHSc. Health and Safety Officer, past Treasurer. Kylie has been an active Trustee since 2019 holding many roles and responsibilities. She is a Nurse, a local environmental advocate, and a school Librarian with a play-based approach to children’s learning.

Agnes Granada

Agnes Granada, Treasurer, a former accountant who became a migrant and refugee advocate in 2002, is currently the coordinator of the Earth Action Trust since 2014. Actively involved in the migrant sector, she’s volunteered her time to various non-profits such as Waitakere Ethnic Board. She co-founded Migrant Action Trust in 2002 and formed the Earth Action Trust in 2013 from the mandate of 36 groups – migrants, refugees, and Pacific people in Puketapapa. Apart from her current role, she’s a volunteer management committee member of the Tangata Tiriti – Treaty People.

Sarah Hamilton

Sarah Hamilton BDes. Sarah has worked in the Design Industry for over 25 years with the previous 9 focusing on waste education with school, community groups and commercial businesses to design and implement circular waste and building systems, gaining a 9 star home rating and the Healthy Living Challenge for Aroha Apartments in Auckland.

Kate Webber

Kate Webber. Bachelor Design. Diploma in Primary Teaching.Kia ora koutou, I am a teacher and education consultant working at promoting play in our schools and kura for all tamariki. I currently own a business called Junky Monkeys, where we run loose parts play programmes in schools across Tāmaki Makaurau.
